Plateaus and Progress: The Total Factor Productivity Growth Frontier

October 1, 2025, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Google Fulton Market, Chicago, IL & Virtual

Join The Global Agricultural Productivity (GAP) Initiative at Virginia Tech in Chicago on October 1, 2025, for the launch of the 2025 GAP Report™, “The TFP Growth Frontier: Plateaus to Progress in Agricultural Productivity Growth,” with a special report on U.S. trends.

After decades of steady gains, global agricultural productivity growth is plateauing—and falling short of the pace needed to sustainably produce the agricultural products our world will need. This slowdown threatens farmer livelihoods, rural and national economies, and the preservation of natural resources. Why are we stalling, and how can we get back on track?

The GAP Initiative will introduce the Total Factor Productivity (TFP) Growth Frontier model, which provides farmers, CEOs, and policy makers with fresh insights into agriculture’s productivity growth ceilings across four technological domains:

  • Input extensification
  • Input Intensification
  • Efficiency Optimization
  • System Integration

Listen. Learn. Collaborate. Experience.

Listen to panelists representing key segments of the agriculture system discuss current trends and conditions that inhibit productivity growth and the innovations they believe will reverse current trends.

Learn what the TFP Frontier model reveals about the U.S. productivity growth slowdown —the gaps that contribute to stagnation and the policy and investment priorities that can restore U.S. agricultural productivity momentum.

Collaborate with other experts in the GAP Initiative Policy Labs breakout session, using Google’s Agentspace. Move out of discussion mode and into action to develop evidence-based advocacy messages that can drive meaningful policy change.

Experience agricultural innovation in action during a special on-site visit to the Farm Foundation’s Innovation & Education Farm. This experience has limited availability, so add your name to the list today.

Register now to help shape future frontiers of agricultural productivity growth.
